In the framework of the partnership between Tainan National University of the Arts and ENSAPC, the artist in residence Wei-Li Yeh will develop, in collaboration with six students, an exhibition with moving contours. Taking as a starting point the book of Fran\u00e7ois Mauriac Maltaverne (Un adolescent\u00a0d\u2019autrefois<\/em>), they will set out on the road to this place to find elements of reflection. From July 4 to September 25, 2021, the exhibition A\u0302ngela Ferreira, structures and gestures \u2013 Independence Cha Cha & #BucketsystemMustFall unfolds on two sites: the art center of the Abbaye de Maubuisson, located in Saint Ouen-L\u2019Aumo\u0302ne (95) and Ygrec-ENSAPC, art center of the Ecole nationale supe\u0301rieure d\u2019arts Paris-Cergy located in Aubervilliers (93). A\u0302ngela Ferreira proposes two distinct installations in relation to the two specific contexts: on the one hand the architectural heritage of the abbey\u2019s gardens, and on the other hand the urban density and the history of migration in Aubervilliers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

From facades to monuments, A\u0302ngela Ferreira\u2019s double exhibition bears witness to her interest in architecture and the investigative work that the artist carries out to make visible the political agendas and ideologies that constructions \u2013 in all their forms \u2013 convey. Combining research and artistic experimentation, her works \u2013 be they sculptural, video or photographic \u2013 explore the survivals and ghosts of colonialism and post-colonialism in contemporary society. They contribute to uncovering unofficial memories and narratives and the insidious mechanisms of oppression, while problematizing the revolutionary utopias of the euphoric period surrounding African independence movements and nation building.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

D\u2019un corps \u00e0 l\u2019autre, se tenir debout\u00a0<\/em>introduces from June 8 to 20, 2021 at the Ygrec-ENSAPC art center and on June 19 and 20, 2021 at the Stalingrad square located in Aubervilliers, seven emerging artists engaged in performative actions, and recently graduated from the \u00c9cole nationale sup\u00e9rieure de Paris Cergy.<\/p>\n

“Cr\u00e9er \u00e0 partir de son corps” appeared in Paris Cergy in the 2000s, after the achievement of a teaching transversality, the development of dance courses, writing, sound creations, in a decade affected by September 11, a global economic crisis and the hope born of the rise of nomadic technologies loosening an aesthetic form of self.<\/p>\n

\u2018Where Do We go From Here\u2019 brings together the work of three artists whose creative protocols are nourished by the economic, social and architectural specificities of the landscapes which they intervene. Drawing on the richness and cultural diversity of Aubervilliers but also on its ongoing changes, \u2018Where Do We Go From Here\u2019 aims to transform the exhibition space into a place of reconnection: to oneself, to others and to the urban space as it exists. Joy invites an artist every month to take over a billboard in Aubervilliers, producing a 4x3m poster.\u00a0For the fifth edition, Simon Bergala is showing a series of collages that reconfigure recurring elements: plants, fragments of fabrics and paint. While the first collage is spliced onto on a photograph of the street taken near the panel, the other versions are painted onto clothes that have been stretched on a frame. These paintings are hung in one of Ygrec\u2019s windows – ENSAPC art center, and will be taken out to move through the streets of the city.<\/p>\n

The paintings on clothes have in their structure this double possibility, of being both hung on the wall like a painting and of being worn.\u00a0During the time of their exhibition, the paintings pass successively from one state to another: from hanging on the walls, defined by the static architecture of the Ygrec window, they are then worn in the streets, moving through public space.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Olive trees, orange and palm trees, cocktails by the sea, airplanes and boats, a room with a view, multicolored oriental carpets and blue skies… For her solo exhibition at the Ygrec-ENSAPC art center in Aubervilliers, Araks Sahakyan offers us an immediate boarding pass for a journey across the globe. In the East as well as in the West, we follow the elements of her narrative step by step. For the tenth edition of Joy, Shanta Rao deploys a project entitled VATA<\/em>, resulting from her research on the transformism of matter, organic or inorganic, and more particularly of soft matter – also called complex fluid – with ambivalent mechanical behavior, between solid and liquid.<\/p>\n

The artist’s intervention conceived for Joy’s billboard will continue in one of Ygrec-ENSAPC’s windows, both located in the same street. Exhibition from May 15 to June 3rd, 2021<\/p>\n

Ygrec-ENSAPC welcomes Claudia Triozzi, artist and teacher at ENSAPC in a constantly evolving set up. Within the project she has been leading since 2011, “Pour une th\u00e8se vivante (For a living thesis)”, she implements a research embodied in “the doing”. Questioning the performative act, the history of practice and performance understood in the broad sense as the exercise of a given activity within a social body or a profession, “Pour une th\u00e8se vivante” attempts to go beyond the binary opposition of writing\/plastic creation, research\/performance. The exhibition space is transformed into a place of experimental research, towards the writing of a gesture. Various meetings and events will be organized at Ygrec-ENSAPC during the project.<\/p>\n

“This moment of residency at the YGREC-ENSAPC art center is a creative elaboration of what has been here from the beginning: an act of sharing moving the field of know-how. Works by Marie Ouazzani and Nicolas Carrier are presented in two Ygrec-ENSAPC window displays. First is an installation entitled\u00a0Go\u00fbt m\u00e9tal<\/em> composed of bouquets, images and infusions. The infusions which are meant to be drunk (and visual of which creates a sculptural effect), let us glimpse into the future landscape of Aubervilliers. Each recipe includes a mix between the local plants and others which have been accommodated because of the climate change.\u00a0In the second window display, the artists present two videos taken from a larger project entitled\u00a0Extra tropical<\/em>. This project brings together several short videos made in European port cities. In an article published shortly before his death, Pier Paolo Pasolini evoked, through the luminous and altered image of tiny insects, human bodies filled with love and desire and their inability to survive in a world destroyed by the industrial system. This is how the exhibition\u00a0Aph\u00e9lie, toutes les \u00e9toiles sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 mortes<\/em>\u00a0[Aphelia, all the stars are already dead] tends to highlight a worried relationship to the world, upset by climatic, political and social turmoils.<\/p>\n

It is intended as a place of refuge with an uncertain status, inhabited by the thermal sculptures of K\u00e9vin Blinderman, the drawing of a disturbing double figure by Azzeazy and a sound installation by Communaut\u00e9 B\u00e9ta with purgatory and contemplative echoes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
