FRANÇOIS AUBART

ART HISTORY AND THEORY

François Aubart is a doctor in aesthetics, art critic, independent curator and editor. He has organized numerous exhibitions, the most recent of which is a double presentation of Judith Hopf’s work, Energies, co-curated with Xavier Franceschi and Émilie Renard at Plateau-FRAC Ile-de France and Bétonsalon. In 2019, he defended a PhD thesis on the Pictures Generation, an American artistic movement that emerged in the late 1970s and was composed of artists who manipulated images from advertising and cinema. He is preparing a book on the same subject, entitled L’attitude de la Pictures Generation to be published by Les Presses du réel. With François Piron, he published a book of interviews with Sylvère Lotringer about his editorial work (Ce que Sylvère Lotringer n’écrivait pas, Paris, Paraguay Press). With Camille Pageard, he co-founded the publishing house Même pas l’hiver which publishes books on art and poetry.
